Search awareness is another weapon in the armoury of every company whose business may be targeted by terrorists or criminals.

Our training can assist you in protecting your premises and staff alike. The training will ensure that your staff have the ability to identify IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devises) and can identify possible “hides” where devices may be hidden or placed within your premises and vehicles. They will learn to effectively work as a team to protect your business.

We cover the legal aspects of searching and ensure that all aspects of health and safety and the Human Rights Act are adhered to whilst undergoing a search.

The training is carried out over two days with practical scenarios at the end to confirm the training given. This training can be carried out at your place of work.

Course objectives:-

• To identify what is an explosive device – IEDs.
• To be able to identify the component parts of an explosive device.
• To cover “actions on finding a suspected explosive device”
• To know what information to give to the emergency services regarding a find.
• How to work as a team when searching.
• The principals of search.
• How to search effectively.
• Search patterns.
• Rules of Evidence.
• Safety distances and cordons.
• To carry out safe searches.

At the latter part of the training students will take part in some scenario based exercise searches in order to confirm their training.

Upon successful completion of their training each student will be presented a certificate issued by us which is valid for 12 months.  Search is a skill and as such should be practised like any other skill so we recommend a refresher day at least every 12 months. This will also keep searchers up to date with current trends.

Search techniques taught may also be used in many other areas and not just explosive searches. Vehicle searches, staff searches, anywhere where you may suspect that you have a problem with theft. The same principals apply.
